In addition to looking at life satisfaction and happiness, I am interested in the causes and outcomes of other positive psychological traits such as optimism, gratitude and self-determination.

- B07 University of Canberra Regional Wellbeing Survey
-
In many countries, people living in rural and regional areas are under-represented in wellbeing research. There is a pressing need to move away from generalised statements about wellbeing in 'rural'areas to understanding the diversity of experiences of rural citizens and what can be learned about how best to promote and sustain wellbeing in rural communities. In Australia, the annual Regional Wellbeing Survey was launched in 2013 by researchers at the University of Canberra to help answer these questions, providing an in-depth picture of how wellbeing varies between different groups of people and communites in the rural and regional areas outside the country's major cities. By combining both subjective measures and objective data sets, it is possible to better understand how wellbeing can be supported and built in rural areas, and how to build resilience and high quality of life in communities that are often 'left behind' in the digital tranformation while also experiencing rapidly regular challenges to wellbeing due to droughts, floods, storms, and rapid market changes. Our stall will showcase our work linking wellbeing, resilience and liveability in rural and regional areas, highlighting how we are focusing on building resilience to rapid change as a way of 'future-proofing' the wellbeing of people in rural and regional areas.

- B11 Wellbeing Economy Governments (WEGo)
-
The Group of Wellbeing Economy Governments (WEGo) is an initiative that brings together countries and regions(supported by companies and civil society) that are committed to fostering human and ecological wellbeing. It is currently being established with support from the Scottish Government and aims to drive change by championing wellbeing principles. The group first met in Scotland in 2017 with Ministers and senior officials came together to discuss the benefits of such a group. Since then the initial group of countries have met to plan engagement and have been reaching out to other governments to raise awareness of the group. Collaboration is key, and the group seeks to continue sharing best practice and real examples of implementing a wellbeing economy vision.
Inspired by a shared vision of a wellbeing economy, Wellbeing Economies Governments embodies a new form of global governance by pursuing three routes to change:
-Collaborate in pursuit of innovative policy approaches to create wellbeing economies - sharing what works and what doesn't to inform policymaking for chance.
-Progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in line with Goal 17, fostering partnership and cooperation to develop a common narrative and approach to delivering wellbeing.
-advance equality across different genders, religions, ehnicities, geographies and generations as part of a shared mission to create wellbeing economies.
